ARRIVING TO CRETE
Arrivals can be either by plane to both airports of Crete (Chania CHQ or Heraklion HER ) or by daily boat from Piraeus port of Greece towards Chania port (Souda) or Heraklion port. Both destinations are about 70km away to Rethymnon (1 hour by car or 1,5 by bus). From Rethymnon there will be free transportation to Amari for those registered for the whole conference
BANKING AND EXCHANGE FACILITIES
There are a number of Exchange offices in Crete. There are both bank offices and ATMs in Rethymnon and both in Heraklion and Chania airport
CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE
Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
CLIMATE AND DRESSCODE
September in Crete is usually summer with occasional showers until November. There is still the ability to enjoy the sea which is in a very good temperature for swimming. Sometimes the night are a bit chilly, so you might need a light jacket for the night. Dresscode; Casual dressing and comfortable clothes are recommended. Swimming suits, hats and sunscreen will be useful also.
The monetary unit in Greece is the Euro (EUR). Bank notes are printed in values of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 e 500euro and coins in values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 cents.
Major credit cards are accepted at restaurants, hotels and shops. You can get cash with your Visa, MasterCard, Maestro or Cirrus card at any ATM.
The electric current in Greece is Electricity in Greece is 230 Volts, alternating at 50 cycles per second. If you travel to Greece with a device that does not accept 230 Volts at 50 Hertz, you will need a voltage converter. Travellers should bring adapters or transformers for electrical appliances such as hairdryers and shavers. Some hotels and shops can supply adapters.
The official language of the Conference is English. Workshops can be translated also to Italian, Spanish and Greek according to the native language of the leader.
Local time in Greece is Central European Time (GMT+2 HOURS)TC/GMT +2 hours .
PASSPORTS, VISA AND LETTER OF INVITATION
Participants are advised to make their own arrangements with respect to entering Greece. Those who are not in the European Union, please apply for a visa. Please apply for the visa within reasonable time (minimum three months ahead of the planned travel).
In Crete the transportation is held by Public Bus Services (KTEL) http://www.e-ktel.com/, the local buses and taxis. There is a discount for the participants for rent-a-car through their registration with Green Tours.
Insurance is covered by the participants. For Emergency Health issues, a General Practitioner Doctor is provided at the whole duration of the conference.
